Become A Starter:

Our larger rail design is featured on all Starter boards. With lots of space to ride on the 3" Mini ball you will have fun challenging your balance. A great way to get started on your own personalized board.

Grow With Your Board:

This rail is great for kids with small feet or those growing up fast. As you develop your skills you can expand your rail. A perfect option for kids and customizing to your needs. Keep changing out the board size or add more extensions.

Please note:

Use a board tops in good condition. We are not responsible for damage to your platform. We suggest using at least an 11 ply if you weigh under 220 pounds. If you are over 220 pounds we suggest a 13 or thicker ply. Note: the listed dimensions measure the outside of the rail.

Balance On These:

Create your own unique combo that suits your needs. Add Balls and Half Balls for your training. Featuring an adjustable rail so you can grow with your board. A great option for young kids with smaller feet who quickly outgrow their clothes!
3" Mini Balls: These are the smallest Balls and are very quick and responsive. They will keep you close to the ground and give you the sensation of floating on air. Beginners should start with these balls. If using on an extremely padded surface or deep carpet these balls will be absorbed and limit your ride motion. Use two balls to create a double pivot board and then progress your skills to one ball.

5" Small Balls: This size Ball is an advanced size and will give you a lot of tilt with starting and stopping. The 5" Small Ball should be used by adults and kids with larger feet who can ride the 3" Mini balls well.

5" Half Balls: These small Half Balls are the perfect beginner size that will create a challenging surface. Perfect for toddlers and kids progressing to this board. Use two for a basic rocker board or one for a wobble board tilting in all directions. Half balls allow you to progress from the basics of balance or multi-task in complex motions as you progress.

6.5" Half Balls:
This size Half Ball gives you a lot of tilt for experienced riders who need more range of motion. You will be able to rotate the balance board better with this size. Use a 3" Mini Ball and 6.5" Half Ball for the Thrasher and Rock and Roll combos. Use a 5" Small Ball and 6.5" Half Ball for the Big Drop combo.

Rail Extensions: All Starter Kits feature a urethane rail that is pieced together. You can put in middle rail extensions to increase the length by 4" or 8". The rail can also be placed on a larger board. A great way to adjust and reuse your balance board as you gain in skill and height.

Elysia's Notes:

If you have that creative bug like I do- then this is perfect for you! Design your own balance board and use our rail kit. I love hearing stories of how everybody created their board. Some had left over project wood from house renovations, woodworkers with a shop or those who love to create. Have fun and don't hesitate to ask us for help or suggestions. And now- go create!

5 of 5 Skim Board Conversion December 20, 2015
Reviewer: Mike Familia from Woodland, CA United States
I got excellent support from Elysia in using the Starter Kit and my old skim board to create something I am now using and training with for a surfing trip to Costa Rica.
She advised me to purchase the starter kit along with an 8" extension kit and 2-3" balls. After I received the products I got from SI-Boards I bought a 1/6" thick piece of Plexiglas from Home Depot, trimmed it, drilled it, and sandwiched it in between the bottom of my skim board (7/16' thick) and the 1" rails and now I am in training!

I really got the feeling that Elysia was not pushing to sell me anything just wanted to understand my interests and help me put something together that would work for me.

5 of 5 Build your own board January 5, 2015
Reviewer: Steve Scanga from Chapel Hill, NC United States
I built my own board with one of the kits and I am very happy with the end product.  It is a great way to get a feel for the board without spending a lot of money.  The small ball and small ring are a challenge right now for me, but I know I will be moving up to a bigger bottom ring and a big ball soon.

4 of 5 Starter Kit August 27, 2014
Reviewer: Paul P from Charlottesville, VA
My youngest brother brought a SI board to a family reunion and that is the way it started.  The Starter Kit is a great way to save money and get your kids involved.  My two kids (11 & 17) helped in the building of the board and installing the rail.  I wanted them to have ownership in the project.  The board now is in front of a saw hourse in the family room.  This way you can mount the board and have something to hold on to while we learn to balance.  We all enjoyed the project and are using the board.
I gave the kit 4 stars because of how tight the interlocking rails were.
All four of us "kids" now have a SI Board (ages 44 to 52).  Have fun.
Sincerely,
Paul P
